Mother and daughter
La Jouvencelle, the new addition to the range at Domaine de Rocheville, is the descendant of La Dame, a Saumur cuvée (100% Chenin Blanc) barrel-aged for nine months, which was created in 2005. Its heir, crafted with the same grape variety, shows a family resemblance: fruity and full-bodied, but with extra nervy tautness. The grapes, picked when perfectly ripe, are pneumatically pressed; the juice then spends four months in barriques on fine lees. La Dame output is 6,000 bts; La Jouvencelle (its first vintage is the 2010) amounts to 4,000-5,000, and retails at €9.90 incl. VAT at the estate shop. In addition, the 16.3ha estate has just been Terra Vitis certified.
