A new ageing cellar at Domaine Chauveau
Back in 1998, Benoît Chauveau took over the 12ha family estate deep in the Pouilly-Fumé appellation. Today, with annual output of 80,000 bottles (35% exported), the vigneron and his wife have decided to build a new 200m2 ageing cellar. Due for completion in March 2012, it has cost €300,000. “This investment will allow us to transform the entire production operation for our bottled wines. Going forward, we’ll be able to target 100,000 bottles – volume that will give us the resources to tackle new, bigger markets such as China and India, and to develop more strongly in the US, which currently accounts for 9% of our sales, ” says Emmanuelle Chauveau.
