Germans under the charm

At last! German consumers are starting to warm to the charms of Cabernet Franc. That’s the view of Thierry Boucard, owner of Domaine de la Chanteleuserie, which farms 22ha of AOC Bourgueil and AOC Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil vines. Last summer, he toured the country to present his wines to specialist retailers, and bingo! He made very promising contact with three of them, and orders could be placed soon. The estate currently generates 30% of its sales in export markets (Belgium, UK, US, Ireland). Will Germany be next on the list?
