Tractors burn diluted diesel

Domaine Vacheron, near Sancerre, recently fitted its five vineyard tractors with Pantone engines. This unusual design burns a fuel/water mix in the combustion chamber. The result: energy savings (30% less consumption of diesel fuel) and substantially less microparticulate released into the atmosphere. The engines were fitted by the Hypno company. Vacheron’s 47ha of biodynamically-cultivated vines are now worked by these “green” tractors.
