Best Student Sommelier in Loire Valley Wines Competition

The 24th Best Student Sommelier in Loire Valley Wines Competition, held in conjunction with the Union de la Sommellerie Française and the Loire trade bodies, will take place at the Loire Valley Wine Trade Fair on Monday 6 February. The competition aims to spot the great sommeliers of the future and raise awareness of Loire Valley wines – the French Horeca segment leader – among these future specifiers. More than 90 students from the top 30 hotel schools in France and Belgium will compete. After a specific training course on Loire wines, the students will sit written exams at their school. This first phase will produce the top three representatives from each establishment. The semi-final and final will be held at the fair. One of the six finalists will then be named “2012 Best Student Sommelier in Loire Valley Wines”.
